How We Met

- As per Corinna      We are one of the few couples out there who actually met because we were set up by mutal friends. I had just spent the summer in Italy with school and ended up befriending a few of the people I went on the trip with. During the trip a few names were thrown out of people back home who my friends and I knew but there was one name that got thrown out a few times that I did not know who he was. That name was Pat. So one day after the trip was over Marie-Claude calls me and asks if I wants to come down to the fireworks with them. Always a fan of the fireworks I agrees and head down. When I gets there I'm told that "oh our friend Pat is coming by too. Hope that's okay." Finally a chance to meet the famous Pat I heard about in Italy.      Pat seemed to know right away what was going on when we met. We had to sit next to each other, we apparently had a bunch of stuff in common and we had to go out for drinks afterwards to get to know each other better. I was totally oblivious to what was going on. Flash forward a week and we're back at the fireworks again. This time same thing only with more friends around "Corinna sit here next to Pat. Oh did you know you both like such and such." All the while the 2 of them are whispering back and forth while glancing over at us every once in a while. Finally I clued in to what was going on.

I think it sunk in that there was something there when our friend Jess asked us both to come "help" her look for a gift for our friend Sarah's upcoming birthday party. We all needed a gift for Sarah so it seemed like the perfect idea. I was kidnapped and we set off to the mall. About an hour in Jess "remembered" she was meeting a friend for coffee (nice cover Jess) and had to go back home but she thought it would be fun if Pat and I saw a movie together. Well for some reason that seemed to work. After the movie we agreed to go out to dinner (on the night of Sarah's birthday party).      From there is was many more dates before anything was official. We both had a lot of stuff going on so things got in the way. However one December night we're talking on MSN and I get an invite from Pat for dinner on Friday evening. I thought something was familiar about that day and sure enough when I checked the calendar I saw that it was Christmas Eve. I think I must have check the calendar 4 more times to be sure before I replied I could go. So it was the big moment...meeting the family before anything was official. We both made it through and in the end it was a wonderful Christmas and we both finally aggreed to make the relationship offical.      It is now 3 years later and we have had a few more milestones since then. We moved in together in September of 2005 and bought our first apartment in October 2007. Looking forward to all the milestones still to come.
